More InfoCeratophyllum, or Hornwort, so named because of the small protrusions on the margins of the leaves, which gives the plant a rather coarse feeling when run through the fingers,is a beautiful plant which is very useful in keeping water clean and in reducing algae. Because the plant never roots, all of it's nutrients are derived from the water. The plant spends its entire life completely submersed. It provides scattering fish, i.e. Koi, an outstanding spawning medium, as well as a great haven for fish fry. Will grow either free floating or can be anchored in a pond or aquarium. I put it around the fish cave, so it is not really visible. It seems to be getting overwhelmed by algae and losing fronds. Ive added snails and shrimp and things are clearing up. I hope it will survive.

The Hornwort took awhile to adjust and grows slower than the other plants which I had to cull back, but it looks great and is providing the wanted amount of coverage without culling.
